Practical Home
Use Laser Hair Removal
What would have to be considered to come up with a practical home use laser hair removal system?
Personally, I think it’s a little more science than I want to be responsible for in the privacy of my own home.
After all, laser beams are powerful things that can reach all the way to the moon.
However, the newest technology in the hands of trained professionals can do amazing things. We’ll leave defining
what constitutes a ‘trained professional’ to the state and federal agencies for now and move on to consider when
and how a home use laser hair removal system might be appropriate.
The Condition
Home use laser hair removal has been proposed partly because technology has advanced laser hair removal
technology to the level of precise, portable and affordable. Hair grows almost everywhere on the human body and the
genetic implications of this produces unwanted hair at times in millions of people.
The problems shows as discomfort and shyness and is mostly emotional but as it based on a real life and tangible
thing – hair – we as humans try to alleviate pain and eliminate root cause when possible. In the case of unwanted
hair, the root cause is called the follicle and it is here that modern technology targets. .
The Solution
While discussing home use in laser hair removal, let’s first look at the laser process.
Lasers operate by focussing light and applying that intense light. The hair follicle is generally darker than
the exposed hair and this quality allows the laser to do its thing, so to speak.
The darker follicle absorbs light and heats up eventually causing the follicle to die and stop producing hair.
It is a slow process but works relatively well. Millions of customers who have tried differing methods and they
know the value and cumulative effect.
Is it Safe for Home Use?
Now this is where it gets sticky. Many of us are all for a professional coming to the house to render services.
In this day and age that’s a rarity and something to value as long as the trained professional operates with
quality equipment and within professional parameters.
It’s not the same to order some equipment off the internet and attempt to do what amounts to surgery on oneself
and others at home.
“Safety first!” I say. I can barely operate a weed whacker, let alone control with any accuracy a laser
beam!
